Mutiny, but No Bounty –
The January 3-4, 2023, Republican Reality TV Drama of 6 rejections of Kevin McCarthy for their new Speaker of the House for the 118th Congress was an astonishing spectacle. UNBELIEVABLE you say?! No, we say it was INEVITABLE!!

The bold actions of the MUTINEER 20 from the Republican Freedom Caucus were nothing less than the second attempt at the Trump Coup from the inside. The party’s painful defeat – again – in a midterm election resulted in a ‘red earthquake’ and not the predicted ‘red wave’. The usual finger-pointing began immediately post-election.

Purple Power
Once again, our Centrist, Independent, Purple voters loudly rejected the majority of the offered Trump extremists, leaving the Repubs with only 222 seats in the House and the Democrats with 213 seats. Just the opposite of the numbers for the 117th Congress where Nancy Pelosi also had to govern with a slim majority.
Trump Coup 2.0 – the Inside Job
For the 118th Congress, the House has 435 voting seats and the Senate 100. But due to the a death of one representative, there are only 434 seats available to vote for the Speaker. Thus, to be elected, the new Speaker must receive a minimum of 218 votes.
After 3 votes, Kevin McCarthy remains with 202 votes, as 20 Freedom Caucus MAGA’t members have instigated a mutiny demanding egregious concessions and control of the House agenda and committees. They declare McCarthy as ‘establishment’ and demand carte blanche power to conduct their scorched-earth political agenda. This time, they are in DEFIANCE of Trump who backs McCarthy. Although Trump does not really care who carries his water, as long as he is not held accountable by the Justice Department for his crime spree.
This Mutiny by the 10 percent has, of course, angered the other 202 members who are voting FOR McCarthy. This incestuous feud will continue today as both sides have dug in refusing compromise.
Underneath the media coverage, the reality is that this standoff is nothing more than a continuation of the two-pronged Trump attempted coup of January 6 2021 – Coup 1.0. This Coup 2.0 battle by the second prong is again organized inside by the Congressional Republicans. Very predictable.
The Inquisition
The demands of the Mutineer 20 and the rest of the House Republicans is to ‘investigate and hold accountable’ the Jan 6 Committee members, the FBI and the Justice Department for the continuing investigations into the Trump Coup 1.0 of January 6, 2021. This is intentional as Trump and many of the current Republican members of the Congress are still under investigation by the Justice Department for their role in the Coup 1.0 insurrection and fake electors scheme. Thus, one purpose of the Mutineer 20 Coup 2.0 is to put them in control of committees so that they can conduct a scorched-earth Inquisition and attempt to discredit the Jan 6 and Justice Department investigations – thus saving their own necks!!!

Purple Revenge – ‘The Curse of Trump Upon You’
But our Centrist, Independent voters will NOT be fooled again and will be watching. We understand that this media show is just a continuation of the 2021 Trump Coup 1.0 attempt – and still ongoing as Coup 2.0 in 2023. Purple voters penalized the Trumpers in the 2022 midterms. But as usual the Freedom Caucus did not get the message insulated in their RED-ONLY MAGA silos.
And in the short game they always play, with their myopic culture lenses, and immediate corporate results bunker mentality, they will never comprehend that their lies are just that – Lies, Big Lies and Damned Lies. But in the long game, it is the Trump Coup 1.0 coup plotters who will be held accountable for their treasons by the Justice Department – and our 100M+ Centrist voters.
To the Coup plotters and sycophants, we say, “The Curse of Trump Upon You.”
