DEMOCRACYWARS Election Issues > Voting Rights

Quick Summary:

Since Trump’s 2020 election loss, the Republicans have made it no secret that they are spending millions to concentrate on winning state and local elections positions, so they can manipulate the results for Trump and his Republican robots. None of the Republican candidates for national office has agreed before the election to accept the results in November if they lose. Their standard ‘dog whistle’ to their base has been ‘Trump’s Big Lie’ that the 2020 election was stolen (even though he lost over 60 court challenges).  This comes from the old time-tested Trump play book of, ‘lie and deny’, and grab donor money!!

Full Report:

Over the decades the Democrats have sought to expand voting rights, and the Republicans have continually sought to limit voting rights. Remember, that US voting procedures are controlled and run by the individual states. But they are subject to certain rights in the Constitution so that voters are not arbitrarily disenfranchised.

Since Trump’s 2020 election loss, the Republicans have made it no secret that they are spending millions to concentrate on winning state and local elections positions, so they can manipulate the results for Trump and his Republican robots. The depth and breadth of this conspiracy is being investigated by the US Department of Justice. But it is a huge conspiracy and is taking a lot of time and resources.  No doubt into 2023. So, for this November 2022 election, the Centrist voters must pay attention to reports of voter manipulation and intimidation in their city and state.

To counter this Republican conspiracy, in 2021 the Democrats filed at least 12 bills in the House and 8 in the Senate. However, the Republicans filibustered several of these voting rights bills at least 4 times. So, the Democrats combined the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (see S.4) into one, the Freedom to Vote: John R Lewis Act. It made it to both chambers in 2021 – in the House as HR5746 and the Senate as S2747. It passed the House on 12/08/2021 and passed the Senate on 12/14/2021, but with an amendment. On 01/13/2022 the House agreed to the amendment.  But on January 19, 2022, a filibuster by the Senate Republicans once again – and for the final time – killed the bill. The Democrats were of course, furious, and the Republicans have carte blanche to manipulate the votes at the local level.

It is now, it is the Democrats – and the Centrists – that should refuse to acknowledge swing  elections won by Republicans.  The Republicans no longer believe in democratic voting. But are working to change our country into their dictatorship. VOTER BEWARE.
